Waste Not Want It

‘Waste Not Want It’ 2012 is the third series of specially commissioned art and design projects curated by Arts Co that bring the best of emerging international talent into the heart of Bloomberg’s London office

The artist involved included Karen Ryan, Laura Ellen Bacon, Out of the Dark, Peter Marigold, Phil Cuttance, Polyfloss Factory, Silo Studio and Tom Price.

Phil Cuttance created ‘Keyboard Tower Lights’ out of hundreds of unique keyboards, which are stripped back and then welded together to form three floor lights, which have been sprayed with a gloss finish in the main entrance of Bloomberg’s offices.

Silo Studio created ‘Floating Island’; an installation made out of over 2000 keys taken from the Bloomberg keyboards and melted down into surfaces that form tables and seating. The keys retain their idiosyncratic sense of identity as you can pick out individual letters.

Out of the Dark, a social entreprise worked closely with young disadvantaged volunteers to repurpose and revamp salvaged furniture. Using traditional techniques such as caning and embroidery they embellished tables, chairs and lamps using old Bloomberg waste, which included various types of cabling.
